LEAD AUDITOR SG ANTI-CORRUPTION ISO 37001: A KEY FIGURE FOR THE ECONOMIC RECOVERY OF THE COUNTRY.
The long-term EU budget, combined with NextGenerationEU (NGEU), represents the largest package of recovery measures ever financed in Europe. To rebuild Europe after the COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 2.018 billion euros will be available so that Europe can rise again more ecological, digital and resilient.
In this context, becoming a UNI ISO 37001 certified auditor can be a decisive step in fully exploiting the potential offered by the NGEU.
Since 2016, in the face of growing awareness of the damage caused by corruption, ISO has devised a specific standard on the prevention of corruption, ISO 37001:2016 – Anti-corruption system. Becoming Lead Auditor of management systems for the prevention of corruption in accordance with ISO 37001 therefore means demonstrating that you have the skills and abilities to audit organizations on the basis of best practices.
The “corruption” to which ISO 37001 refers includes all behaviors which, although formally lawful, present themselves as a risk and an obstacle for the correct functioning of the company. If on the one hand we know with certainty that corruption increases spending for the purchase of goods and services, and reduces the quality of the offer for businesses and citizens, lengthening the time needed to complete the works; on the other hand, the corruption phenomena that afflict our society have an economic and social impact that is difficult to measure.
In the 2021 ranking of the Corruption Perception Index, which charts the level of corruption in each country (score from 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 highly legal), Italy it is in 42nd place with a score of 0.54, thus presenting a high degree of corruption. More than two-thirds of countries score below 50. And despite some progress, nearly half of all countries have stagnated on the CPI for nearly a decade.
Knowing how to manage the phenomenon of corruption is a decisive step in this moment of economic recovery. If Italy is able to pursue its growth objective, operating in a context of honesty and transparency, it will be able to make the most of the opportunities offered by the recovery funds. Reducing corruption phenomena can therefore be an investment for the realization of a necessary change in our economy.
The number of professionals who have chosen to become UNI ISO 37001 certified Lead Auditors has grown, precisely in the face of a present and future scenario that clamors for this figure. RICEC guarantees that the certified auditors present in its register are competent (in knowledge and know-how) for the specific audit activity declared. Building one’s future on certified and demonstrated foundations is the real difference that makes an auditor a true professional in his sector.
