EGE: THE KEY FOR COMPANIES THAT WANT TO CUT ENERGY CONSUMPTION

The Decree implementing the Transition 5.0 plan, published in the Official Gazette, represents a crucial step in the evolution of Italian production processes toward a more sustainable and efficient model. The 5.0, promoted by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT), aims to support investments in digitization, ecological transition and personnel training, with the ambitious goal of reducing energy consumption and optimizing resources within companies. This change is not only technological, but requires specialized skills and a clear strategic vision, where Energy Management Experts (EGEs) play a key role.

The Transition 5.0 plan and the numbers of the transformation

Energy efficiency, staff training and environmental impact reduction are the pillars of the planned incentives, which aim to improve the energy performance of Italian companies.
According to the latest available data, Italian companies could reduce energy consumption by 20-25 percent by 2030 through targeted interventions. This result depends, however, on the ability of companies to rely on certified and qualified professionals, such as EGEs, to plan and implement energy efficiency projects.

EGEs and their contribution to the energy transition

In the five-year period 2019-2023, there were 571,040 companies that made eco-investments accounting for 38.6 percent of the total or more than 1 in 3. In terms of employment, at the end of last year, professionals related to the green economy accounted for 13.4 percent of total employment, 3,163 thousand. In 2023, new contracts activated of these figures amounted to 1,918,610, 34.8% of the total contracts planned for the year (about 5.5 mln), an increase of 102,490 units compared to the previous survey. Energy Management Experts certified according to UNI CEI 11339:2023 are a pillar for successful energy transition. EGEs, not only possess advanced technical skills, but also have in-depth knowledge of fiscal, administrative and incentive regulations related to the energy sector. Their ability to analyze consumption, identify opportunities for improvement and propose efficient solutions makes them indispensable for companies that want to reduce costs and increase sustainability.

Working with a certified EGE means having expert guidance in implementing projects eligible for incentives under the Transition 5.0 plan. From initial analysis to implementation, the EGE supports companies at every stage, ensuring that interventions are effective, sustainable and in line with the required standards.

Certification of competencies: a guarantee of quality

To ensure the reliability and quality of their skills, Energy Management Experts must obtain certification from an accredited third-party body, such as RICEC International. This process certifies that the professional possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to perform at the highest level in the field of energy efficiency.

RICEC International is distinguished by a fast, clear and customized certification pathway that enables candidates to achieve certification in less than 30 days. With its expertise, RICEC offers comprehensive support in requirements gathering and competency validation. RICEC’s nationally and internationally recognized certifications are a guarantee of professionalism and open up new career opportunities in the energy transition sector. In the context of Transition 5.0, the role of EGEs has never been more important.
