M’ILLUMINO DI MENO, FEBRUARY 16, 2024: ENERGY SAVING DAY
Stalling is no longer allowed, the climate is changing and with it the Planet.
“M’illumino di meno,” the initiative linked to the national day of energy conservation and sustainable lifestyles, is back to spread the culture of environmental sustainability and resource conservation. The Italian Parliament, through the conversion of Decree Law No. 17/2022, designated Feb. 16 as the official day that coincides with the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol in 2015.
The 2024 edition of the Day aims to transcend national borders by engaging an international audience. The organizers have chosen the slogan “No Borders” and invite participants to create twinning with municipalities, schools and companies abroad, as well as involve foreign people and communities in their own area.
More and more companies are turning their attention to energy consumption. Balanced and intelligent use of owned resources is the winning strategy to achieve high profits while respecting environmental sustainability.
The world of work is also positively affected by the attention with respect to these issues: contracts activated for green jobs account for 35.7 percent of the total. At the end of the year, the number of people employed in green jobs amounted to 3,141.4 thousand. A further breakthrough is expected, according to the FAO, which would lead to a growth of more than 200,000 job opportunities by 2030, thanks to the combination of sustainability and digital transformation.
Professionals, closely linked to the Green Economy, assume an increasingly complex and crucial role, especially considering the current international situation.
Skills certification becomes the means to ensure the quality, skills and effectiveness of these professionals in shaping a more sustainable future for our planet.
